From 22 to 26 June, the province of Gelderland was dominated by Europe's biggest company sports event: the European Company Sport Games. During this wide-ranging sports event, employees from different countries compete with each other to become the best in their sport discipline and to achieve the best scoring country of that edition. With 15 different sports venues and the main hub at Papendal.

The ECSG have their origins in the Netherlands. Initiator Philips started the initiative in 1977 to get its employees to exercise more. Exactly 45 years later, the event returned to the Netherlands.

We couldn't have done this without

Unique edition

Unlike all previous editions, Team TOC organised the ECSG 2022 not in 1 city but 1 complete province: Gelderland. Together with the province, we looked for the best sports locations per sport to create the best experience for the athlete. This allowed participants to enjoy all the beautiful places the province has to offer.

The ECSG are organised every two years and are aimed at employees only. From the Netherlands, Stichting Nederland Onderneemt Maatschappelijk (NLOM!) was affiliated as the national federation. Together with the province, NLOM, municipality of Arnhem, municipality of Apeldoorn, Achterhoek in Beweging and municipality of Ede, Team TOC was able to organise a unique edition.

Entire package

For the ECSG2022, Team TOC was responsible for the entire package; from development to execution. In consultation with its partners, Team TOC developed the event concept. From there, on a consultancy basis, TOC supported the NLOM! in its agreements and meetings towards the international corporate sports federation. Finally, Team TOC took care of the complete execution of the event.

''Participants told me they were impressed by the facilities at Papendal, the other sporting venues and the different playing cities.''

Martine Schuijer, Director, NLOM! Foundation

Low key networking

The event focuses largely on broadcasting, but also has another important purpose; networking among various international companies. During the event, there is room for participants to network with each other in a relaxed manner and possibly establish new working relationships. A key component for this was the Veluwe Walk. During this walk, participants interacted with each other from different countries and companies to learn more about each other.

Surroundings

In addition, the Veluwe Walk was the perfect moment for the province of Gelderland to show participants what the region has to offer. The beautiful natural area offers the ultimate experience and gives participants the insight to choose Gelderland for holidays.

Large-scale organisation

With 21 sports, 15 sports venues, 14 accommodation locations and over 3,200 participants, it was a large-scale organisation. Daily transport was arranged from the accommodations towards the main hub Papendal and the various sports locations.

Competitions

Several competitions were organised within the sports. Almost all sports involved both individual results and team results. In the end, the results of all the different competitions were added up to determine which country had performed best during the ECSG. To keep it all clear for the participants, Team TOC developed an application in which participants could view their schedules, results and overall results.

Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach volleyball, Bowling, Darts, Handball, Archery, Golf, Mini Golf, Orienteering, Petanque, Table Tennis, Tennis, Chess, Shooting, Squash, Football, Volleyball, Cycling, Swimming

Livestream with the King

The 2022 edition of the European Company Sport Games has been given a royal touch. While the participants were busy on the various sports fields, EFCS secretary general Musa Lami, in conversation with King Willem-Alexander.

On Friday 24 June, the king was in The Hague to reopen the renovated Malietoren of VNO-NCW and MKB Nederland. With NLOM! being the foundation of both and the ECSG being the event, the link was quickly established. During his tour of the Malietoren, the king was connected live in the sports hall with Mr Lami and sports star Lieke from Team NL, who were present at sports centre Valkenhuizen.
